Cruising With Mickey on a Disney Cruise Line

Now, you just don’t get to see them in the movies and in the famed theme park that’s every person’s dream, young and old. Mickey Mouse and the gang have branched out to cater to travelers and cruisers with the Disney Cruise Line. Reminiscent of the magic and wonder that Mickey and the gang have brought to many, the Disney Cruise Line features elegant and family-friendly amenities as well as wholesome, fun activities for the kids, the young at heart, and the whole family.

Disney Wonder and Disney Magic are twin ships of the Disney Cruise Line offering you the ultimate Disney cruise experience. They can accommodate 2, 400 passengers. Disney Wonder carries an art-nouveau theme, while Disney Magic an art-deco design. But one thing is constant, Mickey and the gang.

What’s Inside

There are three new public spaces in the Disney ship where one can read, walk, watch TV, or do the many other things cruisers do. There’s Diversions for the sports enthusiasts; Cove Café, an adults-only coffee bar that offers the perfect place for sitting around, watching TV, reading or checking the mail and surfing the Net. There’s even a pool where one can take a dip. For the teens, there’s Aloft (for the Disney Wonder) and Stack (for the Disney Magic), a college-dorm-meets-coffee-bar hang-out place for teens.

There are three swimming pools; the main one is for the family. There’s also a pool for kids, complete with a 200-ft Mickey water-slide and sprinkler for toodlers. Of course, there’s the adults-only pool in the Cove Café. The spa, also for adults only, features a rain forest steam room. There are also for adults-only night clubs, namely the “Beat Street” (for Magic) and “Route 66” (for Wonder) which offers a piano bar, dance club and sports pub.

IF you’re looking for a place to wine and dine, there’s Parrot Cay and Animator's Palate which offers casual dining. For those looking for something fancier, there’s Tritons (Disney Wonder) and Lumière (Disney Magic). There’s a for-adults only restaurant offering tasteful Italian cuisine, the Palo.

The cabins are spacious and functional and can accommodate at least three people. It has its own sitting area, small refrigerator, personal safe, closet and drawers, bathrobes, even a hair dryer. Suites are more spacious, with walk-in closets, a dining set, wet bar, VCR and a balcony. Two bedroom suites can accommodate up to 7 people and one-bedroom suite 4 to 5 people.

Other Perks

And because Disney is first and foremost for kids, the Disney Cruise Line offers a variety of activities and services to kids and to their parents. There’s the Floudner’s Reef Nursery where parents can entrust their infants to the cruise line’s caring counselor, allowing them to enjoy their cruise without the worry of baby-sitting. There’s also Disney’s Oceaneer Club and Oceaneer Lab, a supervised program for kids aged 3 to 7 and aged 8-12, respectively. The progam offers high-tech interactive programs, science hands-on experiments and explorations and treasure hunts. There’s a marine biology game show for kids aging 11-12. And of course, the Stack abd The Aloft for hip-hop teen hang-out, where they can sit around in overstuffed couches, listen to MP3m, play video games, read magazines and hang-out in a bar offering soft drinks and munchies. These children facilities are open from nine to one in the morning.

The Cruise

Disney Magic offers a seven-night Caribbean trip and a ten to eleven night Mediterranean cruise during the summer. Disney Wonder, on the other hand, has a three to four day trip vacation in the Bahamas.

Of course, these trips wouldn’t miss Disney’s private island, Castaway Cay which offers family and adult-only beaches, supervised games for different age groups, and bike riding. There are also appearances of Disney characters in the island to make the trip more fun!

Whoever said that Disney is for kids only? With the Disney Cruise Line, it’s the best of both worlds!
