Flotilla Sailing
There are two types of people who like sailing;
those who like to get their hands dirty, know which way to turn a screwdriver,
and like building boats, for them doing things in boats is what is of interest.
The other sort like hot sun, gentle breezes, taking it easy, sipping a gin and tonic,
I admit to being one of the latter - call me a weekend sailor if you wish.
If you like sailing but don't like the work that is often involved then flotilla sailing is for you.
Sign up for a two week flottila sailing holiday somewhere in the Greek Islands or the Carribean.
You can go alone and share a boat with other like minded people, or take the family and have a boat to yourself.
When you arrive there will be usually be a sailing expert to spend as much time as you need to get to know the ropes,
usually some knowledge of dingy sailing is required before you start.
Depending on your own confidence and ability you will then probably spend a few days sailing from one port/marina to another
under the supervision of the flotilla lead boat. Often you can then spend the rest of your holiday sailing around
under your own steam, exploring secret coves and beaches at your own pace. Knowing that the flotilla lead boat is only
a radio telephone call away if you should get into difficulties.
